| Interest Group May 22 at 10:00AM This month the Interest Group will be hosting special guest, Rabbi Nir Barkin. Rabbi Barkin is a rabbi of Congregation YOZMA in Modi’in, Israel. In 2007 Congregation YOZMA literally made groundbreaking history when it became the first non- Orthodox, government-funded synagogue in the history of the State of Israel. As a representative of the rapidly growing progressive Jewish community in Israel, Rabbi Barkin will be addressing the changes taking place in Israeli society towards a more liberal entity. Through his personal family path (which goes back 5 generations in Israel), he will help us understand the evolution of a progressive religious voice in a nation that is dominated by orthodoxy. Come early for coffee and bagels and bring a friend. |
